I rock.

I have finished my first quilt ever. It's for my newest niece, Brooklyn. She's over a month old now so it's a little late but...whatever. I'm a hero because I couldn't even sew before I made this. Seriously, I didn't know how to thread a sewing machine and I had to watch a bunch of Youtube videos to figure out how to slip-stitch. It looks awesome from a distance.

I took some pictures for you so that you could admire my mad skills.

Here is a picture of the front that Chris thought would be funny to ruin. Sniff.

Here is the front without any distractions:

Ahem, please note that I sewed her name into the border.

Here is the back:

It looks SO BEAUTIFUL from a distance. But when you get up close... heh heh, well it resembles Frankenstein stitches. I tried to take a picture of it but you can't see how tragic the back looks so well. I mean, I know this picture is not so flattering of my stitches, but I promise the real one is much worse.

Still, I am super proud. Hooray for me! I am awesome.

Whoa, you DO rock! (And here I thought this post would have photos of you with Soapy in the rocking chair...) This is so amazing and beautiful! I want to know how you made that amazing border. I am seriously impressed.

I learned to quilt when Julia (my oldest) was a newborn. It was the bicentennial year, and we had just had moved into a "nearly dead" ward. We were the only "newly weds" in the whole batch. These darling old ladies were making a bicentennial quilt, and they let me come to the church and help quilt it. I am certain they went back and night and picked out my stitches. Ouch! They were sticklers. But I learned a lot from them!

Good job, Anna! Keep up the beautiful work!

Anna. You are amazing. I am seriously mega mega impressed. Maybe you should just move in with us so we can sew all the time and have a party. Think it over. And, again, that quilt is seriously very impressive. Much more impressive than any quilts I've made.

That is so cute. I love the back with the two strips going across. Pay no attention to the Frankenstein stitches. It looks great and you are talented.

It's beautiful Anna! Great job. I am way impressed by the hand quilting. I could never have the patience for that.

I bet Chris is just jealous that Brooklyn gets such a beautiful quilt. I bet he wants one of his very own, Frankenstein stiches and all! I know I do!

You are awesome!! I made my first quilt for Jonah and it is great from afar, but horrible up close. I actually love that it isn't perfect. To me it is proof that I lovingly spend hours and hours doing it by hand, instead of just buying him a blankie (which there is nothing wrong with, I just wanted to make him one thing, because it is probably one of the very few things he will get homemade from me:))

Okay, also, I've just been reading a bunch of your back posts (I'm at Thanksgiving now) and cracking up, and then reading them to Tom who is also loving them. I feel like I have a new book to read! Yea, me! It's so exciting. Go you.

Anna-

We can definitely still be family friends at Christmas. In fact, I think about that a lot. And just the other day I was telling Olivia how much fun we're going to have out there at Christmas. I am seriously so excited. And you totally intimidate me with your mad quilt making skills. So I think we're even.

Love,
Katie
